Payment policy

How payment works.

Applies to all festival packages and tickets bought through this website. Sponsorship is contracted separately and is not covered here.

This is a working draft

This page reflects the commercial terms agreed by the organisers. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and should not be treated as final until it has been.

What is payable, and when

The full price of your package is payable at the time of booking. We do not operate deposits or instalment plans. Your place is not held until payment has completed successfully.

The price you pay is the price shown at checkout. Package prices may change before you book; once your payment completes, your price is fixed.

How you pay

Payment is taken online at the point of booking by a secure third-party payment processor. Major credit and debit cards are accepted. The festival does not see, handle or store your card details at any point.

Your card is charged immediately when you complete checkout. If a payment is declined or fails, no place is reserved and you are free to try again.

All prices and charges are in United States dollars (USD) unless stated otherwise at checkout. If your card is denominated in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate and may add its own international transaction fee. That fee is charged by your bank, not by the festival, and we cannot refund it.

What your payment commits

Where a package includes accommodation or travel, we use your payment to commit funds to third-party suppliers on your behalf — resort partners, airlines and ground transport operators. Those commitments are made in your name and are frequently non-recoverable once placed.

This is the reason the refund policy treats packages differently from single event tickets. Please read it before you pay.

Confirmations

You will receive two emails. A payment receipt arrives immediately and confirms only that your money has been taken. A booking confirmation follows once your accommodation and, where included, travel have been confirmed with our suppliers.

The booking confirmation is the document that matters. It is the point at which your refund rights change.

Disputed charges

If you believe you have been charged incorrectly, contact us before raising a dispute with your bank. We can almost always resolve a billing error faster than a chargeback process can, and a chargeback raised against a correctly-charged booking may be defended.

Four things to confirm on this page

Currency

Written as USD, inferred from the deck pricing sponsor tiers in dollars. Confirm.

Assumed

Taxes and fees

The page does not currently state whether prices include Costa Rican tax, tourism levies or booking fees. It needs a line either way.

Missing

Legal entity

Which company takes the payment, and in which jurisdiction. Required on the terms page and by most processors.

Missing

Payment provider name

Written provider-neutral as “a secure third-party payment processor” so no rewrite is needed once chosen. Some processors require you to name them.
